Compostable carriers for visitors to Chelsea Flower Show

Visitors to this year’s five-day Chelsea Flower Show which is currently running until Saturday 24th May, can go home knowing that they are doing their bit for the environment.  The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has replaced all the usual single use plastic carrier bags with eco-friendly fully compostable bags.  350,000 of these compostable bags will be distributed to visitors to the Flower Show during the event.  The suppliers, Ecosac, already have these bags in use at the RHS shops in Yorkshire and Surrey, and will be supplying carriers to several other major events coming up.  They are made from GM-free industrial cornstarch, which has been grown on EU set-aside land.
